The Nigerian Army has declared the trio of Ahmed Salkida (Ambassador), Ahmed U. Bolori and Aisha Wakil wanted. According to a statement signed by Colonel Sani K. Usman, Acting Director, Army Public Relations, the trio have been declared wanted because they are in possession of information on the conditions and the exact location of schoolgirls kidnapped by Boko Haram from Government Secondary School, Chibok, Borno State, in 2014. The Army said its action is based on relevant laws.
“We are relying on the relevant laws of the land and in particular the Terrorism Prevention Act 2011 (as amended), where Nigerians could be punished for failure to disclose information about terrorists or terrorist activities.
“This becomes necessary as a result of their link with the last two videos released by Boko Haram terrorists and other findings of our preliminary investigations,” the statement said.
There Army added that it is certain that the wanted persons have links with Boko Haram terrorists and have contact with them.
“They must, therefore, come forward and tell us where the group is keeping the Chibok Girls and other abducted persons to enable us to rescue them,” the statement added.
The Army called on the general public to provide information on the whereabouts of the wanted persons, adding that it is working with other security agencies for their arrest if they fail to turn up. Mr. Salkida is a notable Nigerian journalist who has remained a credible source of information about Boko Haram activities. He has occasionally acted as a negotiator between the Nigerian government and Boko Haram militants before going on exile.

In an interesting turn of events, several Nigerians have taken to Twitter to react to the Nigerian Army declaring freelance journalist Ahmad Salkida wanted. Some are of the opinion that the Army should also declare CNN wanted as they also got an exclusive video by the boko haram insurgents back in April which showed that abducted Chibok girls may still be alive. Some others accused the army of trying to intimidate an innocent man for receiving a video and sharing it.
