The Assistant Inspector General of Police in charge of Zone 12, Bauchi, Yakubu Jibrin, yesterday presented a cheque of N40 million to the families of 36 officers, who lost their lives in the line of duty.

He said the donation was made under the Nigeria Police Insurance Scheme to the 36 families of slain corps within Bauchi, Yobe and Borno states police commands, which make up the zone. Jibrin said the scheme covers death, permanent disability or medical expenses, among others, and expressed gratitude to President Muhammadu Buhari and the leadership of the police for the gesture.

One of the beneficiaries, Mrs Osawere John, on behalf of the 36 families, thanked the AIG and the police authorities for the gesture, adding that the money will go a long way in addressing their plight. // //
