Retired Cameroon defender, Rigobert Song is battling life after suffering from a stroke on Sunday, October 2nd.
Song was flown to France on Monday and is said to be breathing by himself after getting out of coma. He was at his home in the Odza neighbourhood in Yaounde when he had his stroke.
Rigobert Song is the uncle of former Arsenal defender Alex Song.
Song played for Liverpool and Arsenal in England as well as FC Koln, Lens, Galatasaray and Trabzonspor before retirement in 2010
Samuel Eto’o led the the way in wishing his old team-mate well. He posted a picture of Song to Instagram with the caption: “I wish you a lot of courage and a speedy recovery big brother!”
Liverpool legends Robbie Fowler and Jamie Carragher followed suit.
Fowler said: “Thoughts with #RigobertSong and family… Hope he pulls through”
Carragher added: “Hope everything ends up ok for #rigobertsong”
