Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar Thursday revealed that no member of his family has ever reached the age of 70. He would clock 70 on November 25th. Atiku disclosed this when he spoke at a surprise birthday party organised for him by students of his private school, American University of Nigeria Academy and Primary schools.
“It is a milestone in my life because nobody in my family has ever lived up to 70 years”he said.

A 60-year-old man accused of raping and killing a young woman, was beaten, dragged and paraded naked by youths and women of Amaekpu, Ohafia Local Government Area of Abia State, today, November 18th.
According to Abia Facts Newspaper, while the suspect was raping the young lady on the farm, he insulted and mocked her for being a virgin and later killed her.
He then informed the victim's friend to tell the family where they can locate the body.
The man will be handed over to the Police but not until the community is done torturing him.

2-year-old boy burnt to death in Abakaliki
An inferno on Thursday burnt a 2 year-old boy and property worth millions of naira at Ekuluobia Street Kpiripiri in Abakaliki, the Ebonyi capital.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the fire which started at about 9:50 a.m. on Thursday destroyed 15 rooms.
Items destroyed by the inferno included refrigerators, mattresses, sofa, electronics, documents, among others.
Mr Stanley Nze, a victim and caretaker of the house lamented the fire outbreak.
“There was an electricity spark and within seconds there was fire everywhere.
“Am the caretaker and a prospective corps member, I have lost all my documents to fire and am supposed to join other corps members in few days time.
“We have 24 rooms in all, but 15 rooms were burnt with no items rescued.
“The most painful is a 2 year- old boy that lost his life.
Nze said the fire fighters were able to arrest the situation, and pleaded for assistance from the government and other well spirited individuals.
Mr James Owoh, Chief Fire Officer in the state, who expressed worry over the tragedy, said his men responded promptly to the situation, and regretted the loss of the little boy and other items.
“We arrived immediately after we were contacted and was able to put off the fire to avoid it escalating.
“We still plead with the public to procure 6kg fire extinguisher for their homes to fight fire before the arrival of fire authority, ” he said.

19 crushed to death in multiple accidents along Enugu-Abakaliki Expressway
No fewer than 19 people were killed on Wednesday on Enugu-Abakaliki Expressway in multiple accidents involving commercial vehicles.
The accidents occurred almost concurrently along the major highway on Ezilo axis of Ishielu council area and 135 Ezzamgbo in Ohaukwu council area. Some drivers also died.
Though the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) could not confirm the number of casualties, one of the survivors, who identified himself simply as Ezekiel, told newsmen that the accidents occurred when the driver of a white bus which took off from Awka and heading to Abakaliki tried to overtake another vehicle.
He blamed the driver of the bus he was traveling in for reckless driving, adding that the accident would have been avoided if the driver heeded warnings from passengers.
Ezekiel said the driver tried to overtake the Sienna when another bus coming from Abakaliki on high speed was approaching.
He recalled both drivers lost control of their vehicles and there was a head-on collision.
Shortly after the accident, residents of Abakaliki and its environs whose relatives travelled along the Enugu-Onistsha Expressway besieged the accident and emergency unit of the Federal Teaching Hospital where most of them were referred to the mortuary to check for their missing relations.
Buhari says crisis in oil sector responsible for recession
President Muhammadu Buhari has lamented that Nigeria was thrown into recession due to the misfortunes of the oil industry.
The President made this claim while inaugurating the governing boards of three parastatals of the Ministry of Petroleum Resources: the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation; Nigerian Content Development Monitoring Board and the Nigeria Nuclear Regulatory Authority, at the Presidential Villa, Abuja.
All the boards have the Minister of State for Petroleum Resources, Dr. Ibe Kachikwu, as their chairman.
Buhari noted that the boards were inaugurated at a time when the global petroleum industry is witnessing a downturn in purchase.roducer nations.
“Nigeria has been hit by the misfortunes of oil industry but several countries have been hit much harder,” he said.
Meanwhile, Dr Hassan Lawal, a former minister of Labour and Productivity, has assured that the ongoing economic policies and decisions under President Muhammadu Buhari will bring Nigeria out of recession.
EFCC moves to arrest Ladoja
The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) Friday asked the Federal High Court in Lagos to order the arrest of former Oyo State Governor Rashidi Ladoja over alleged refusal to show up in court for arraignment in a N4.7 billion money laundering charge.
Ladoja was charged along with his former aide, Chief Waheed Akanbi.
Prosecuting counsel Olabisi Oluwafemi said the defendants did not honour EFCC honour the invitation but merely sent their lawyers to represent them.
He urged the court to issue a bench warrant against the defendants.
However, Ladoja’s lawyer, Bolaji Onilenle, said he did not know the matter was for arraignment as the case was still pending at the Supreme Court.
EFC gave a fiat to Mr Festus Keyamo to prosecute the case, not Oluwafemi, who is a counsel in Keyamo’s firm.
“We are challenging the locus standi of the prosecuting lawyer to set this matter down for hearing. If the flat is given to Keyamo, no other person in his chamber can take it over. It cannot be transferred.
“Keyamo should personally prosecute it, he cannot transfer the prosecutorial power to any other person in his chamber,” Onilenle said.
Ladoja had through his former lawyer, Chief Wole Olanipekun (SAN) appealed against the decision of a Federal High Court, Lagos, which refused to quash the 10 counts of money laundering.
But, the Court of Appeal ordered the former governor to continue his trial at the lower court.
EFCC alleged that Ladoja and Akanbi conspired to convert properties and resources derived from an alleged illegal act, with the intention of concealing their illicit origin.
The anti-graft agency also alleged that Ladoja used N42million out of the proceeds to purchase an Armoured Land Cruiser Jeep, and remitted about £600,000 to one Bimpe Ladoja in London.
Ladoja and Akanbi had pleaded not guilty when they were first arraigned.
Justice Mohammed Idris adjourned until November 25 for ruling on the application for warrant of arrest.
