Supreme Court upholds Seriake Dickson's election as Bayelsa State Governor
The Supreme Court today Tuesday, November 8, upheld the election of Seriake Dickson as the validly elected Governor of Bayelsa State. The seven-member panel of judges led by Justice Tanko Muhammad gave the ruling following an appeal brought before it by the All Progressive Congress (APC) and its Governorship Candidate in the December 5, 2015 election, Timipre Sylva. The panel members said they will deliver a detailed judgement on November 18.

The executive governor of Ekiti State, Peter Ayodele Fayose, joined the ever growing list of dignitaries paying solidarity visits to the illegally detained former minister of aviation, Chief Femi Fani-Kayode. The governor visited Fani-Kayode in EFCC custody on Tuesday afternoon and spent quite some time encouraging him.
He arrived the commission about 2:15pm and was received by a team of operatives led by one Mr Madaki. He later departed the commission at 4:30pm. Fayose’s visit is the latest among those of top dignitaries who have paid solidarity visits to the former Director of Media and Publicity of the PDP Campaign Organisation.
Recall that the Deputy Senate President, Ike Ekweremadu, Bishop Matthew Hassan Kukah of the Catholic Diocese of Sokoto, Senators, leaders of the PDP and other political, religious and socio-cultural organizations are among those who have paid the former minister a visit in custody. Chief Femi Fani-Kayode is expected to be arraigned on November 10, 2016, at a Federal High Court in Abuja.

Recession: FG orders Directors in Ministries, others to henceforth fly only economy class

Recession: FG orders Directors in Ministries, others to henceforth fly only economy class
Following the current economic recession, the Federal government has ordered all director generals in the various Ministries and Managing Directors of Federal parastatals to henceforth fly only economy class for any of their local or international engagements. A circular sent out on November 2nd to all the Ministries and parastatals reads
“In view of the ensuing budgetary and fiscal challenges faced by the Federal Government arising from low oil revenue, it has become necessary to review the Guidelines for Local and International Travels as provided for in Circular Ref. No. SGF. 6/S.2/X/545 of 31st March, 2016 with a view to further prune recurrent expenses on travels and tours. Accordingly, Government has decided that all Civil and Public Servants in the rank of Directors and below in Federal Ministries, Departments and Agencies as well as Chief Executive Officers (Managing Directors, Executive Secretaries, Directors-General, etc) of Federal Government Parastatals, Agencies and Institutions are henceforth to travel on Economy Class for both Local and International travels. Similarly, all non-executive Chairmen and members of Federal Government Boards of Parastatals are henceforth to travel Economy Class".

A member of the House of Representatives, Hon. Dasuki, today at the House session, moved a motion for fallen hero, Lt. Col. M. Abu-Ali to be immortalized. Dasuki called for him to be given an accelerated posthumous promotion, a national institution to be named after him as well as for his wife to be given an offer of employment.
Abu-Ali was killed alongside 6 other soldiers in Mallam-Fatori in Borno state by Boko Haram members last Friday.

Popular Cape town criminal lawyer, Noorudien Hassan has been killed by unknown gunmen in South Africa. The 45 year old lawyer was shot six times outside his home in Crawford on Monday night.
Speaking with Cape Argus, his brother Yasseen Hassan confirmed the shocking incident saying
‘We are shocked and traumatised by the incident. He was shot six times and we are still in the process of finalising things for his funeral later today.’Although, the circumstances surrounding his death is yet unknown, but a police spokeswoman Noloyiso Rwexana who confirmed the murder happened at around 10.05pm, is seeking for information from eyewitnesses who must have witnessed the sad incident.
‘The motive for the murder is yet to be established. Any person with information regarding the incident is kindly requested to contact Crime Stop on 08600 10111.’
