Prominent pro-democractic activist Adjaratou Fatoumata Tambajang has been appointed as Vice President of The Republic of The Gambia by President Adama Barrow.
She is identified as one of the strategist behind the formation of an opposition coalition that unseated long time ruler Yahya Jammeh.
Tambajang, a mother of eight was born on October 22, 1949 in Brikama, Gambia. She has worked in Nations Development Program (UNDP) as a gender/ development expert and also served as Minister of Health, Social Welfare and Women’s Affairs in the government of Yahya Jammeh.
