President Adama Barrow in a bid to promote religious tolerance in Gambia has omitted the Islamic word that was added to the country’s name by his predecessor Jammeh.
According to him though majority (90%) of the population are Muslim, he acknowledges the presence of other religious sect such as Christians and animist. Gambia he says is a republic and not an Islamic republic.
