Organizers of the Tokyo 2020 Olympics in a bid to promote the green movement have decided to use unwanted mobile phones and electronic item to make the medals.
There’s a limit on the resources of our earth, so recycling these things will make us think about the environment,” said Tokyo 2020 sports director Koji Murofushi.
The Japanese public have been asked to donate unwanted mobile phones and electronic appliances to help make Tokyo 50,000 medal. Collection boxes for the donations will be placed in local offices and telecoms stores.
This initiative emulates the Rio Olympics that used recycled materials to make 30% of the bronze and Silver medals.
This is a very good move….well done
