Surgeons in China might be on their way to achieve one of the greatest breakthroughs in medical history.
A 27-year-old Chinese woman Jin Qi is expected to have a nose and a mouth after losing them 25 years ago. The woman who is scheduled to receive four surgeries to get the new nose and mouth will have the organs placed on her chest.
Jin underwent a surgery lasting more than 10 hours on Monday to have her missing facial organs reshaped and is expected to have hee new nose and mouth in six months time thanks to a revolutionary reconstruction surgery by Chinese surgeons in Shanghai.
Her surgery is also enabled by a process that allows the cultivation of the facial parts on the woman’s chest.
A lot of people both within and outside the medical field are curious to see how the woman's organs will function from her chest after the surgery.
