The Voice Nigeria Season 2 is here! It is the Nigerian version of the TV series The Voice. It premiered on Africa Magic television channels Showcase and Urban on DStv in Nigeria on 10 April 2016 and is sponsored by Airtel and Coca-Cola.
The winner would earn a recording contract with Universal Music Group, an SUV car worth N7 million and a trip to Abu Dhabi.
The format of the show is:
1) The blind auditions
2) The battle rounds and
3) The live shows!
Coaches for this season are: Timi Dakolo, Waje, Yemi Alade and Patoranking! Hosted by IK Osakioduwa and Stephanie Coker!
Now, why it should be renamed; "The SCREAM Nigeria" ?
I've watched three episodes of the blind audition this season, but i noticed that the judges do not turn until those poor contestants "SCREAM out their lungs".
Like seriously, those contestants have to scream, growl, or shout out their lungs before they turn???
Annie Cedric who sang Asa's song got only one chair turn cos she obviously didn't hit a very high note like Precious Emmanuel who got four chair turns? Although Precious who sang Destiny's child "Survivor" is obviously a good singer, i must say his delivery of the song is a NO as he was kinda SHOUTING!
The Judges hardly turn whenever those contestants sing Nigerian songs! But when it's a foriegn song, they turn quickly. Are they trying to say that Nigerian songs (Their own) are NOT vocally challenging?
At least Waje and Timi should Know a good voice when they hear one as one must not be able to hit a very high not before they are called Good singers! (Take a cue from The Voice America).
Dear Nigerians, if you can't hit high notes, Don't audition for The Voice Nigeria, they won't turn for you #TheVoice
**Thanks to Waje for noticing Wilson Odini's CONTROL!**
My Favorites for now in No Particular order are:
Wilson Odini, Arewa Comfort, Joy Ebiem, Torisheju, Kendris, Annie Cedric, Favour Idugbe, Precious Emmanuel, Jahnear Ilem
