Nigerian striker, Kelechi Iheanacho did not have the greatest of starts to life as a Leicester City player as he limped out on his debut against Borussia Monchengladbach on Friday after suffering a minor injury in the 17th minute.
Iheanacho left the Manchester City misery behind earlier this week by signing a £25 million, five-year deal to join the Foxes and made his bow in the 2-1 win over the German Bundesliga outfit at King Power Stadium.
The young striker was replaced by Shinji Okazaki in the 66th minute, and helped himself to an assist eight minutes later – finding strike partner Jamie Vardy who scored the winner.
But shortly after the Foxes took the lead, the 20-year-old was forced off injured after a challenge and was replaced by Leonardo Ulloa.
It was a blip in an otherwise satisfying evening but manager Craig Shakespeare has played down the injury scare, saying it was nothing serious while describing his substitution as ‘precautionary’, Goal writes.
“Last thing he needed was another kick on it, so we played it safe,” Shakespeare said post match.
Iheanacho will be expected to pair Vardy in attack when the Foxes take on Arsenal at the Emirates Stadium in their opening fixture of the 2017/18 Premier League season next Friday.
