The President-elect of the Federal Republic of Liberia, George Weah has just been sworn in Samuel Kanyon Doe stadium near the country’s capital, Monrovia.
He replaces Africa’s first elected female president, Ellen Johnson Sirleaf, who is stepping down after two terms. It is the first democratic transfer of power in the West African state in more than 70 years.
Heads of state from Ghana, Mali, Nigeria and Togo attended along with friends and former colleagues from his football years.
