Nigerian music superstar Dbanj has disclosed how he discovered the ‘Shaku Shaku’ vibe on his CREAM Platform just as it went mainstream.
He made this known during the draws for winners on the platform.
‘We were in the club one night and I heard this song, Oshozondi. I thought it was hilarious but I didn’t pay attention. Few weeks later I was listening to songs uploaded on the backend and then I heard that song again.’
Now it had his attention. He knew definitely that he had heard it before.
‘So I called my tech guys and I was like, Does that mean that songs that have blown are also being uploaded on CREAM?’ It turned out that the artiste Slimcase was already a known name in the ‘streets’ before seeking for an avenue to become really popular.
Since then, the Shaku Shaku sound have become a household name; with the artiste eventually collaborating with Dbanj on a yet to be released track.
Dbanj’s CREAM Platform selects ten random subscribers to help them with either prize money or entertainment releated ventures. On Tuesday he held a draw for twenty more winners (for November and December) in Lagos.
