When leaders of tomorrow have to go through very nasty conditions to be better, then something is wrong! This is the case of a community that has 6 oil wells located within it and cannot afford chairs for the pupils in the only primary school there.
Pupils are said to be taken lessons on a bare floor in a primary school in Delta State. Coming after photos of primary school students lying and sitting on the floor to write their end of term exams in Akwa Ibom state surfaced online last year.
According to reports, the photographs of the school were were taken on Wednesday, January 17, and it made a lot of terrible exposures about the situation of pupils of Otoro Primary School in Ethiope East Local Government Area of Delta State who sit on bare floor while learning.
The host community, Orhoakpor community is believed to be hosting six oil wells.
The infrastructures in the school are extremely poor as the roofs of the building are almost blown off, which exposes the pupils to dangers and harsh weather. And for the fact that there are no benches in the school, the pupils have taken comfort in sitting on the bare floor to learn in class.
The classrooms according to report, do not also have doors, neither are there any staff room for the teachers and the head teacher. A source within the community who wanted to remain anonymous appealed to the Delta State Governor, Arthur Ifeanyi Okowa to come to the rescue of the school with the provision of basic infrastructures and adequate security for the school as the little equipment they have are also carted away by criminals.
It is reported that the only health centre in the community does not have the basic medical facilities. We believe Nigeria will be better but our government and individuals must be responsible.
