The management of Dana Airline has blamed cold and wet weather for the reason one of its aircraft’s off shot the runway, into a bush around the PortHarcourt International Airport on Tuesday.
Responding to the uproar is being generated by concerned Twitter users, the airline noted blamed the incident on bad weather and heavy rain.
According to the statement released by Dana Air ‘inclement weather caused the Dana aircraft runway overshoot in Port Harcourt.’
“On Tuesday, 20th February 2018, one of our aircraft operating Abuja-PHC skidded off the runway at the Port Harcourt International Airport as a result of very stormy weather and severe winds upon landing.”
“Thankfully there were no casualties and all our passengers and crew on board were disembarked safely with the timely response from the ground emergency services.
“We are grateful for the swift reaction of the emergency response teams and safe evacuation of all on board,” the statement read further.
While commending the efforts of the pilots of the aircraft for being able to boycott a plane crash thereby saving the day, the management of the Airline also wrote:
“We commend our pilots who were able to navigate the aircraft to a complete stop under the circumstance and brought all the precious lives of our passengers and crew to safety.”
