A 35-year-old Nigerian man identified as Oyahere Johnson from Port Harcourt, Rivers State, was nabbed with a black toy gun replica of Barreta pistol, which he said he had been to rob unsuspecting victims who pass his hideout at Eko Bridge, Lagos.
Operatives of RRS, disclosed that the man’s arrest came after a motor cyclist around 11:00 p.m on Sunday, tipped them off on what Oyahere was hiding. They rushed to the scene and saw the man hiding the gun in his trousers, and trying to run away. He was arrested and searched, and the toy gun was recovered.
Recall that an incident occurred along the Lekki-Epe Expressway sometime last year where robbers flagged to a halt two cars, a Toyota Camry and a Toyota Corolla.
After ensuring a compliance by the drivers, other members of the gang of thieves who attempted the robbery emerged from a hidden location in a bid to facilitate a theft.
In a statement, the police confirmed the incident stating that the victims were on their way to celebrate the new year when they were attacked. The four-man gang of robbers reportedly jetted off into the bush when they saw the police approaching.
“The robbers fled into the bush and abandoned the victims and one of their improvised guns. They were chased into a bush, but no arrest was made.
