A Lagos Danfo driver identified as Kenneth Anyanwu has reportedly bagged a one year jail term after he stabbed an official of the Lagos State Management Authority, Olanrewaju Yusuf.
It was gathered that Anyanwu committed the offence on April 26, on Ikorodu Road near Palm Grove Bus Stop, inward Onipanu.
According to reports, the drama ensued when Yusuf attempted to arrest Anyanwu for picking passengers at undesignated bus stops between Obanikoro and Palm Grove. Anyanwu who resisted arrest was alleged to have picked a broken bottle and aimed for Yusuf’s neck.
Fortunately, Yusuf raised his hand in defense of the oncoming blow and was slashed in the hand instead .
Magistrate F.O. Ikobayo convicted Anyanwu following his plea of guilty to a two-count charge of assault and breach of peace. She sentenced him to one year imprisonment with an option of a N50,000 fine.
The magistrate also ordered the convict to pay N80,000 for Yusuf’s medical bills.
