It was confirmed yesterday that Nigerian singer, David Adedeji Adeleke, aka Davido, has signed talented music star, Idowest, to his record company.
The DMW boss made the announcement on social media, sharing photos from the signing.
Before now, Davido has Mayorkun, Dremo, Peruzzi , producer Fresh VDM and Yonda. With the signing of The “Shepeteri” crooner, the number of the artistes on label has increased to six. And it’s obvious that Davido might still sign more artistes.
While it’s good to support others and be ambition, there’s a danger in having a big family. It becomes a thug of war to satisfy everyone and competition will set in. At times goes on, one artiste will start feeling insecure, thinking one person is given a priory than the other.
Since Don Jazzy signed more artistes to Mavin Records, the careers of some artistes have suffered. While some are enjoying the limelight, others, especially the new ones have been struggling musically. It has been rumoured that Korede Bello feels Don Jazzy gives Reekado special treatments and he’s unhappy about that.
Also, though Iyanya didn’t open up on why he left Mavin, close sources said he felt unwanted at the label as he didn’t enjoy much attention.
If caution is not taken, Davido Music Worldwide could face the same issues at Mavin Records. Once artistes become unhappy and unwanted, it kills creativity.
