Tyrese has been wilding out on social media lately. In a series of unfortunate events that include his taking issue with Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson’s Fast & Furious spinoff and a publicized legal battle with his ex-wife Norma Gibson. It all clearly took a toll on the singer and actor as he recorded a video of himself pleading to see his daughter again, breaking down and crying on camera.
Now, in yet another revelation, Tyrese stepped onto Instagram to issue a public apology and inform fans that it was, in fact, prescription psych meds that led to his behavior. “I want you guys to know that to this day I don’t drink, smoke or on any level do I do drugs……… because of this high stress and very traumatic experience I was advised then ultimately connected with multiple therapist and psychiatrist…this particular drug that was suggested although maybe helpful to others had an adverse effect on me and this is the reason I had a complete meltdown online,” Tyrese penned.
The caption accompanied a photo of the drug Rexulti, an antipsychotic medication known primarily for the treatment of schizophrenia with side effects including the occurrence of anxiety, and panic attacks among others. “I’m in the clear now,” Tyrese continued. “This is being flushed out of my system and I’m already to get back at 100% – please don’t chalk this up as “oversharing” a lot of people were effected [sic] by what these meds did to me over these last 2 months and this is my public apology.”
Last week, when everything seemed to come to a head Tyrese wrote on Instagram that Will Smith and Jada Pinkett-Smith gave him $5 million to help him with legal fees under the condition that he stays off social media. In a recent development, a source close to the couple revealed that the Smiths hadn’t given Tyrese any money after all and that they were concerned for his mental health. The current legal battle in which Tyrese finds himself is over custody of his 10-year old daughter. Tyrese’s ex-wife previously accused the Fast & Furious star of physically abusing the child.
While the case on the abuse has since been dropped, he faces the possibility of being hindered from seeing his daughter as Norma has filled a restraining order. “This will NOT compromise my case,” Tyrese went on to say in this new post. “This is transparency and honesty and more of a suggestion, please seek professional opinions when it comes to drugs especially psychiatric meds. We all need to be still and preset in the Lord and he will deal with your fights and reality.”
