Tanzanian singer, Diamond Platnumz has been arrested concerning a video he uploaded to social media. The country’s Information Minister, Harrison Mwakyembe says that authorities plan to file charges against him for the material he posted which they say is “obscene” and “indecent”.
Reports have it that the singer was arrested yesterday and is still being questioned by the police.
The video which he posted showed him kissing and making out with his baby mama, Hamisa Mobetto. He posted the video to spite his other baby mama, Zari Hassan who broke up with him on valentine’s day. He later uploaded another video which showed him in bed with an unidentified lady.
Another local musician Faustina Charles, popularly known as Nandy, has been arrested over similar accusations after a video deemed “indecent” by authorities was shared on WhatsApp.
If Diamond Platnumz and Faustina Charles are found guilty, the two musicians could each face a fine of at least five million Tanzanian shillings ($2,200; £1,500) or a prison sentence of a minimum of 12 months or both.
Diamond Platnumz has since deleted the video from his Instagram page.
